WRC make memorable impression on Liverpool

A bus full of eager runners left Warrington Central station on Sunday 25th May to take part in the inaugural BT Rock n Roll Liverpool half / full marathon.

Although an early start for most, the day held a lot of promise for all those taking part. The bus was not only packed with Warrington Running Club members but a range of amateur runners from numerous other clubs in and around Warrington and the North West.

The half marathon got underway at 8am, with the full marathon following at 9am. As the day progressed stories were created, personal best times were smashed and new friendships were formed.

A challenging course for all, the unique draw of the Rock n Roll theme kept most runners going as did the thought of picking up some rather fetching “bling” at the finishing line and the all important pint of free cobra.

Following a successful day, the tired runners of WRC headed home via train and with diversions in operation it would have been rude not to have enjoyed a quick pint in the Legh Arms in Newton-Le-Willows, which provided an ample opportunity to top up the liquids.
