Running for bread in Wrexham

wrexhamThe Village Bakery Half Marathon in Wrexham was the latest outing on the run calendar for the merry band of Warrington Running Club members.

An 11am race start provided a leisurely beginning to proceedings on a cold winter’s day.

The previous year’s event had caused some controversy with many runners being sent the wrong way on the course leading to some running up to 14 miles in the race.

However, this year saw no such problems and the event was also chip timed for the first time.

Mike Metcalfe took the club honours as he raced home in a time of 1:27:13. He was followed over the line by Nat Ashurst in 1:31:29 and Graham Martin in 1:37:17.

All WRC members also stayed on at the finish line to cheer all club members home and everyone was suitably rewarded with a local loaf of bara brith for their efforts.
